Zapraszamy na kurs Monologi w Technice Meisner Online z Simonem Furness (The Actors Temple/Londyn)

Monologue Work in Meisner Technique

This 6 day course led by Simon Furness is designed to help actors when they're asked to perform monologues for theatre and film castings online and in person. Since 2013 Simon Furness led 6 short courses in Poland invited to teach Polish actors by Laboratorioum Meisnera, now we want to invite you to participate in his ONLINE course.

More about the teacher: meisneractingonline.com/simon-furness/

8 participants only. Application deadline 17th May, 1pm.

We will first of all enable you to understand what a monologue actually is and it's role historically in theatre and film. In terms of practical work, we will begin with words written and spoken aloud by you so that you experience the feeling of ease in this form, before taking on the challenge of speaking words written by someone else. In this latter phase, you'll learn how to build a bridge' between the text and yourself, so the words you utter will come from the most authentic and organic part of your nature. The course will consist of: 6 classes online + a video explaining how to prepare for the 1st and the 4th days of the course (this will be sent to students in advance of class, and you'll keep the access to the video after the course).

The first part of the course involves students writing three short monologues which range from a literal and factual account of a past event to a fictional one which will look and feel just as 'truthful' theatrically as the literal one. For the text-based part of the course, you'll be working on monologues assigned to you by the teacher.

COURSE OUTLINE

Day 0 - We will send you a video introducing the teacher and the course and setting out the first monologue assignment for Day 1.

Day 1 - Introduction: what is a Monologue? Listening to and offering feedback on the first monologue assignment. Homework: second monologue assignment.

Day 2 - listening to and offering feedback on the second monologue assignment (see homework above). Homework: third monologue assignment.

Day 3 - Listening to and offering feedback on the third monologue assignment. A video will be sent to students outlining how to approach a contemporary monologue text written by another. The texts will be went separately by email. Students bring the text (unlearned but read) to class.

Day 4 - Analysing the text, using practical tools to help the student make another's words 'their own'. Homework: practising and absorbing the tools of analysis.

Day 5 - Continuing the work begun in Day 4 to 'bridge' the 'gap' between the actor and the text by using the tools introduced in Day 4. Homework: preparation of the monologues for the final day.

Day 6 - Final look at the monologues with feedback offered.

We will be working on ZOOM.US which is free to download for participants. We have chosen this platform because it can offer an experience similar to working face to face owing to its functions.

PRICE: 210 GBP
